Aberystwyth Men's Rugby Union is one of the oldest and most established rugby clubs in Wales. Our main aim is to give every member the opportunity to play Rugby both in training and playing in BUCS.

Come and see us at the Freshers Fair and take part in our activity outside of the Students Union.

AUMR is a club that strives for greatness both on and off the pitch. As a society we  provide an opportunity for people to enjoy their university experience with likeminded individuals through sport and welcome all and every level of player from internationally capped and seasoned players to first time players.

We are one of the largest and most established societies at this university and offer a team that competes in a variety of championships, including the Mid Wales cup, our BUCs championship, the Western Conference Cup and varsity. We have a great competitive rivalry with Bangor University, in which we compete for the Prince of Wales cup - this year we will be heading up north for them to host us. The team has had great success in all of their competitions, winning various awards and establishing ourselves as a club that displays a high level of rugby

 and skill.

TRAINING

We welcome all abilities to the club and focus on developing players skillsets through a rigorous training schedule that focuses on different aspects of the game. An average training week would like this:

Monday: Contact session at the local rugby club 6:30-8pm @Aber Town RFC

Tuesday: Skills and run through session with both the first and second team 8-9:30am @uni 3G pitch

Wednesday: Game days for both first and second teams

Friday: Friday Night Lights 8-9:30pm @uni 3G pitch

Sunday: Weights session 1-3pm

TRIALS

Before our BUCS season begins, we host trials. This will include both skill assessments and trial games, this has been a long standing tradition in the club’s history and will take place in early late September and early October. For more information please contact a member below. These trial games are designed to get to know everyone and how the coaches your skills.

As part of the universities Give it a Go week, the first few weeks of training and socials will be completely free. We encourage anyone who is interested in joining our team to come along to both sessions and see if our club is for you.

SOCIALS

We find socials important to running a well-balanced team and getting to know everyone on a more personal level. We host socials every Wednesday after matches and include sober socials as well for the “serious athletes”. There will be other soical events throughout the year that don't include drinking and there is no pressure on anyone to drink alcohol. We host some of the best socials in Aber with loads of different fancy dress themes as well as the traditional shirt and tie attire.
