We are Aber Ice Skating!

Our Society is over 1 Year old now but still fairly new to Aberystwyth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿, we love meeting new people every week while having fun on our themed socials or challenges every Wednesday (starting at 8pm), as well as a Christmas and end-of year meal. Every Tuesday we host off-ice exercise classes in the Student's Union which helps build and develop skills related to ice skating, in preparation to our trips to Telford Ice Rink. These sessions are run by our secretary Harry, who has over 6 years of experience, with assistance from our events manager and coach Gabby, who has nearly 3 years of experience. In these sessions, we try to follow a rota including jumps, spins and spirals, as well as other footwork. We also run a trip to Winter Wonderland every December to either Swansea or Cardiff, which is a must do!!! We love feedback from our members and any suggestions are welcome.

Any questions just follow and ask us on our instagram @abericeskating. Our events are posted on our instagram every week and we have a group chat where further updates are put on.

How we started:

Pretty random actually! The first president and secretary of 24/25 met during freshers week and were speaking about how they both used to skate when they were little and how much they missed it so that's when the society idea sprung into mind. A post was made on the Aber Snapchat story to see if anyone would be interested and over 20 people responded! Thus we were born!

Aber Ice Skating are dedicated to the inclusion of all members regardless of age, race, nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, ability, social-economic status or marital status.
