Over the next few weeks, we would love to take the opportunity to reintroduce our Undeb Aber staff team!
Name: Jacob Webb - Head of Student Voice
Where is home?:
A very deep and philosophical question…..I grew up in Malvern, Worcestershire but am now based in Aberystwyth – and loving it!
It’s your last meal on earth…what’s on the menu?:
Something to keep me going until I touch down on another habitable planet…..Joking aside, I always love a good vegetable Biriani with Naan Bread
Outside of work, what are your favourite pastimes or hobbies?:
Outside of work, I am a keen runner and enjoy taking part in creative arts based activities such as choirs, painting classes, and improv comedy groups.
What do you love about living & working in Aberystwyth?:
There is so much to love about living & working in Aberystwth! Beyond the obvious joys of living by the sea and being surrounded by nature, I love the fact that Aber has such a wide range of exciting activities and events going on throughout the year.
If you weren’t in your SU role…what would you be?:
I’ve always loved the idea of being a professional singer/songwriter. I performed a lot of my own music in my teens and even got to the final of my school’s talent contest a number of times. Things sadly failed to kick on from there however……
Before working here, have you had much involvement with the students’ union or student groups?:
When studying at the University of York, I served as a volunteer Environment and Ethics Volunteer Officer. Here I worked to increase the Vegan options available in the canteens, and to introduce a policy for the Union to go plastic bag free.
Immediately prior to working at Undeb Aberystwyth, I worked for three years as the Representation and Policy Coordinator at the Union Of Brunel Students, overseeing their Academic Rep Project, supporting elected Officers, and working on various policy related tasks
Tell us interesting fact about yourself (something people may be surprised to learn):
Whilst it can be difficult at times, I am a big Manchester United fan!
Why did you join the team here at Undeb Aberystwyth?:
I joined to take up exciting role, in an forward thinking organisation, in a very beautiful and eclectic place.
