Name & role:

Emily (Mo) Well-being Officer.

Shwmae, I’m Mo and I am your newly elected Well-being officer for the year at Undeb Aberystwyth! I came to university here in 2020 and completed a psychology degree. I am currently completing my master's degree in Behaviour Change, which I will be completing alongside this Full-time role!

As your well-being officer I am here to represent your voice as a student on anything well-being related. I will be working alongside the Officer Team to help ensure your student experience is as happy and healthy as possible!

Tell us an interesting or random fact about yourself..

I was in the women's football team when I was at university here. I was on committee for a year too which was great experience.

Choose three words that best describe you:

I would say calm, motivated and empathetic.

It’s your last meal on earth…what’s on the menu? & which 3 celebrities would you invite for food?

It would have to be my mum’s lasagne! I would invite Reneé Rapp, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Olivia Coleman they are all women that I admire, and I think they are just very cool!

What are your hobbies or interests?

I really enjoy sports and exercise whether that’s football, running or going to the gym. I am also into my music, and I like to play guitar!

Why did you choose to stand for this role?

Personally, I think it will be a great opportunity for me to develop my skills and grow as a person. But mainly I am keen to help make positive change, I would like to do what I can to better the student experience and to ensure students are happy and fulfilled as much as possible.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

I am really looking forward to getting to work on campaigns and projects!

I am also looking forward to freshers and the events that will be running during the week- particularly the officer quiz!!

What are some of the causes you care about?

There are lots of things but some of the causes that I am particularly passionate about are gender equality, animal welfare, human rights and social justice.

What is your favourite Aberystwyth hangout?

I love hanging out by the sea, whether that’s on the beach or at a place with a nice sea view.

If you could be an animal what would you be and why?

I would be some type of bird- having the freedom to travel and explore by flying would be very liberating.

Do you have any out there traditions or strange superstitions?

The only thing that comes to mind is that I strictly avoid walking across three drains.

What one thing do you think everyone should do/try at least once in their lifetime?

Do something that you would usually always say no to (to a reasonable extent), whether that’s skydiving, going for a swim in the sea or going abroad.

It can be challenging but being comfortable being uncomfortable can lead to some of the best experiences.

You are on your way to work on a Monday morning…what song comes on as your soundtrack?

Mariah Carey- Fantasy.

Name a favourite place you have visited and why.

Slovenia. I visited a couple years ago with one of my friends and we both had the best time. We managed to do lots like visiting Triglav- the national park and we went canyoning which was very cool.

Plus, it is a very beautiful country, so we were surrounded by lots of amazing views!
